HeartmadeBlessings.org – One Stitch At A Time

HeartmadeBlessings.orgSites like this one are always good news, and that they can use the internet to do some good is just wonderful. HeartmadeBlessings.

org is a group of people in North Carolina who encourage site visitors to make a crotchet square and mail it to them, and they’ll weave it into a comforter, afghan, snuggle, pin or similar stitchery/weaving work and give it as a present for someone who is going through a rough moment in life; they have hosted especial operations by giving comforters for S11 victims’ families, Shuttle Columbia victims’ families, and also to Iraq War combatants. A full list of patterns and squares can be found on the site, and the idea is that you take it as a base to stitch your own before sending it in. I would love to see the finished projects on the site, and also get some news updates, as the last one is from 2005, and that might lead people to think that the project is no longer running.
