Google’s smart display, the Nest Hub, has received the 16th version of its software. Supporting significant improvements, bug fixes, and resolution of connectivity issues, the update aims to enhance overall user functionality and responsiveness. Various bugs and connectivity problems have also been addressed, making the device more user friendly and efficient.
Deemed long overdue, the update allows the Nest Hub to leap from version 14 to 16, incorporating improvements from both software updates. This leap ensures the provision of enhanced features and bug fixes, which will promote a smoother, more reliable operation. Users can anticipate enhanced performance and reliability from their Nest Hub devices with additional functionalities for a more intuitive user interface. This update signifies Google’s commitment towards providing users with prime device and ownership experience.
Inconsistencies fixed, better connectivity and a whole lot more
Connectivity fixes introduced in the update include rectifying inconsistencies with headphone detection and varying volume controls on the Nest Hub’s Bluetooth Devices page. It also addresses issues such as media data not being displayed on screens of paired mobile devices and audio not being routed to headphones during Duo calls. Further, it also resolves certain network issues, thus improving user experience.
The update extends support for Matter and Thread. Features now include enhanced support for the Air Quality Sensor, subscription to all device fabrics, support for the Matter update group, transition time handling for color-related commands and managing Thread Border Router over Wi-Fi with enhanced operational efficiency. Moreover, the ability to profile and diagnose Wi-Fi network issues has been introduced, alongside improving power management, firmware over the air (FOTA), and device security features.
Google’s update echoes its commitment to improve support for Matter devices, by enhancing integration of smart home devices through universally adopted standards like Matter and Thread. This move will enhance the interoperability of the devices and improve users’ ability to manage and control their smart home appliances efficiently, underscoring Google’s dedication towards user-friendly experiences in smart home management.
The version 16 update will automatically download and install onto the Nest Hub devices without requiring any further user action, making the transition seamless for users. This approach ensures that the rollout continues without any extra involvement from the user’s end.
