This site is home for an internet-based radio broadcasting company which supports some infrequent views and theories regarding extra-terrestrial life, political and world issues, economy and medicine. Even if you couldn’t be more opposite in the political spectrum from the views supported by the network and its star host, Jeff Rense, I reckon this site and their business model is something to take a look at: for one thing, they have lots of advertising in their site, but not as much in their broadcasts.
The radio presents news and views in their homepage, and then you can go on to explore the program schedule, read a bit about the hosts and what the programs are about, and listen to selected shows from the archive: if you like what you are hearing, you can purchase a subscription to listen to the shows live, and access the archives of past podcasts. Everything is downloadable, so users can listen to their favorite topics while diving or going around doing their usual activities, plus you can choose to order CDs with the programs from any particular month. While this system is not at all revolutionary, the fact that it works is highly significant, and means that contrary to what the common assumption dictates, people are actually willing to pay for a subscription to read about/listen to topics they are interested in (probably the more extreme the views, the more solid the customer base is), and this is certainly a path to explore for all those bloggers, publishers and reporters who are wondering how to get some revenue from their works.
