A new community site that revolves around food, Fondu is where you can review all these restaurants that you visit, and all these dishes that you have the joy/displeasure of tasting. It can all be rated using the Fondu application (which you can get for your iPhone here). All the venues and chef you rate are added to the site’s database, and this can be accessed by all the people who’ve also got the app. Still, the emphasis is on letting you interact with your close friends, and the members of the community who can be trusted most of all. Fondu is clearly trying to move away from having tons and tons of reviews from people you just know nothing about. This is what many deem as the main pitfall of a site like Yelp, and Fondu is also trying to innovate in the way the reviews themselves are written.
On Fondu.com, everything is kept simple and to the point. People are asked to write true mini-reviews, telling others whether a service is good or bad using the plainest of words.
And integration with Foursquare means that it’s very easy to know about the coolest places to go and grab a bite, even when you are in a city that’s all new to you.
