Available as a free download, Flixel gives iPhone users a better way to share special moments with their friends. If you get this application, you’ll be able to do more than just taking a photo with your phone’s camera when something special has happened, and having that picture emailed or posted to Facebook. No, what Flixel lets you do is to create “live” photos, IE photos that are animated. And it lets you create them using a simple interface, in which everything is done in a couple of swipes.
You simply have to record the moment, and pick the parts you want to use by live-painting them. The app comes with lots of color filters, and you’re given the option to loop your animation forward or backward, so as to get the effect you want. Your Flixel can be previewed, and only when you’re totally satisfied with the way it looks will you share it with all of your friends and contacts. You can do that by email, and also by posting it on sites like Facebook and Twitter.
Flixel has been directly inspired by Cinemagraphs, an application that lets you do pretty much the same. But only if you have got the time to master it. And it’s interface is nowhere as easy as Flixel’s.
