The title of this review comes from an excellent song by the terrific band led by David Byrne, Talking Heads, as it was the lyric that sprung instantly to my mind when I was browsing the web today and came across this site.
As you probably know, the Pirate Bay is immersed in a bit of a lawsuit as regards the services they provide.
Many argue that they do no real harm as they are not hosting or sharing any files themselves – rather, it is the users who share the actual files.
As a result, this site will let anybody upload his face to the WWW and show everybody what the face of a “criminal” looks like.
The person who put up the site aims to make a statement as regards technological innovation, and he claims that whomever wins the case the technology won’t disappear. You might agree with that stance or not, and if you share his point of view about letting the industry know who are the real file-sharers just head straight to the site. Just remember to keep your webcam at hand.
FileSharer.org In Their Own Words
“File-sharing is good, allowing people to share music, movies and culture. Today four of the pioneers of file-sharing are on trial in Sweden, in yet another attempt by the movie and music industries to stop technological innovation and development by force. But it is not the people behind the Pirate Bay who have shared files. It is us, the millions who use their site. They’ve got the wrong people. We won’t go away even if the prosecution should win this case, nor will the technology disappear that lets us share the music and films we love. Let the music and movie industry know who the file-sharers are.’
Why FileSharer.org It Might Be A Killer
