Hoping for a fall 2007 launch, Everyscape aims to “scape” the major cities in the United States. Scape means that you can click on a part of a map and see real footage of the street, neighborhood, or place you would like to visit, all at eye-level.
You can look at a restaurant, an apartment, a hotel, a park…whatever. Currently they have Union Square in San Francisco “scaped.” They hope to have the majority of San Francisco, New York, Boston, and Seattle scaped in the near future. It is an exciting, fun, and practical tool that gives you the real look and feel of certain locations. This site seems ahead of its time, and will likely go through lots of glitches and evolution, but it is clearly setting the standard for future mapping sites.
