Dribble is a site that combines different things together and comes with something of its own. The site takes Twitter and image libraries and crosses them with a game of show and tell that is meant to be played by designers only.
Through the site, such individuals can gain feedback on any project that they are laboring at, and find new ways to improve it. This is done by uploading images to the site, but not any kind of image – only small ones. These are named “shots” in the site’s parlance, and since they amount to just 400 x 300 pixels the designer has to exert himself and come up with something representative in such a short space. These shots are what other site users come across, and they are also taggeable. Most of all, designers can start following each other and collaborating more effectively, hence the Twitter parallelisms – the “micro” concept, the following of others…
I think we agree the premise that lies at the heart of Dribble is actually interesting and different. The only possible drawback is that if you want to become a user you will have to be invited by someone who is already a member. But in the long run, that selectiveness also factors in the site’s appeal.
Dribbble.com In Their Own Words
“Show and tell for designers in 120,000 pixels or less.”
Why Dribbble.com It Might Be A Killer
Like anything that is crossed with Twitter, this site has a significant aura of vitality around it.
