Free is a seductive word. Put the word in an ad, say something along the lines of ‘Buy One Get One Free’ and you’ll be sure to get results.
Put something like, ‘Buy 2 for the Price of 1’, on the other hand, and the results may not be so fabulous. So when a website comes along offering free music, it’s sure to get a good amount of attention. Take Dorble, for example. Dorble is a new site generated from the ashes of a similar site called Gimado. Gimado launched only a few months ago, but didn’t quite work out. It’s new incarnation is very similar. It’s essentially a music search engine in the vein of imeem or Songza. Type in an artist or song and then Dorble will get to work finding it for you. The results show up and there’s an option to listen or download. It also gives a ranking of the songs found. Dorble has a blog as well with plenty of goodies including music reviews, articles on fashion, gadgets, videos, and photos.
