To think about how little we get to know those who live in our same building (let alone our same block) is quite depressing. It speaks of a lack of involvement that was completely strange to previous generations. Our fathers knew everybody. So did our grandfathers. And whenever they needed a plumber, an electrician or someone who was good with numbers they instantly knew who to turn to. But since we don’t know as much today, we often end up hiring the services of someone who lives on the other side of town. And if there’s a problem later, then we have to rely on that person again – a person who is nowhere near to help us.
Done.com is a new startup that aims to remedy that. This site lets you find people right where you live who can help you out with pretty much anything. You simply post what you need done, and you’ll hear from talented neighbors that are willing to help you out for a fair fee. They’ll come over, fix what needs to be fixed (or do what needs to be done), and then you’ll pay them with your credit card.
Just for you to know, all of the people you can contact on the site are reviewed and endorsed, and background checks are actually run by HireRight, the prestigious Californian company.
