DimeCasts is a site listing various instructional screencasts, all ten minutes or less. These short and sweet how-to online videos explain various concepts to benefit the online development community.
Posted screencasts are divided into two levels, Advanced and Beginner, and cover topics such as how to create various unit tests with NUnit, to a basic introduction to Linq2Sql. Before downloading and watching a cast, users can read a quick synopsis of the covered topic. Users may also post and view comments related to the screencasts, hence adding to the information that they may obtain from the site.
DimeCasts.net In Their Own Words
“The idea for DimeCasts hatched out of a series of short screencasts that I was preparing for my blog roll. When I started to search the net for examples of screencasts, I found that many of the casts are long and very in-depth. I thought that we (the development community) could benefit from short, focused episodes.
The goal is that each episode review only a single overall concept and stays within a 10 minute (or there abouts) timeframe.”
Why DimeCasts.net It Might Be A Killer
DimeCasts is a great concept—cut down lengthy instructional videos, but retain the vital information. However, the site needs some tweaking. There are currently only five screencasts to view. Most of the links relating to the site’s casts, such as Archived Episodes and Most Viewed do not connect to videos, are there are not items under these criteria to view. More data and cleaned up links will greatly improve the site.
