Bistip is termed “a peer to peer courier service” by its creators, and you couldn’t find a better definition if you tried. What Bistip does is to connect travelers with people who need any item from these locations they’re going to visit. These are called “item lookers” on the site’s parlance, and when they place an item request they’re offering the traveler a tip that would cover the cost of what they want, and also compensate the traveler for his troubles So, this website lets people get these foreign products they’re after both quickly and safely (no chance it will get lost in the mail, or damaged along the way), whereas travelers are given the chance to earn an extra income from their trips.
The site features a homepage in which both trips and wanted items can be posted. Those who are either looking for foreign products can go through all the trips that are posted there, whereas people who are about to travel anywhere can quickly realize if there’s someone who needs something from that place. If that’s indeed the case, then they can get in touch and volunteer their services.
Bistip is an Indonesian startup, and it was actually inspired by someone that studied overseas, and who was always requested to bring items to Jakarta (his hometown).
