eBay was created back in the day when GUI and design were still an afterthought in web development..
Its kooky muliticolored logo, and plain white is reminiscent of the playroom at McDonald’s. But now there’s a new, slick, aesthetically pleasing way to use eBay. It’s called BidFlyer and it’s won Mashable’s Mashup of the Day. BidFlyer is a flash actionscript search tool based on the eBay developer API. The site desgn is simple—a search bar against a black background. Type in an item you want, and press go. A range of photos of that item will populate the screen. You can also search by category, make bids, track auctions with real time countdowns, and shop to your heart’s content. If you were afraid to use eBay before, BidFlyer will make it a lot more appealing and easy to use.
