ArmchairGM is a blank web 2.0 canvas.
Only instead of catering to the aspiring artist, this new site caters to the avid sports fan. Be it Brazilian jiu-jitsu or straight up NFL football, ArmchairGM will connect you with other fans through its massive, MediaWiki-powered community. Users can do literally anything on this site; read and write articles (articles can even be embedded with video, unlike Wikipedia), make friends or foes (there are both friend networks and foe networks), submit to the site’s blog, and rate everything from the basic (sports teams) to the more esoteric (lacrosse’s most memorable moments). It’s clear that the site was built to be run entirely for – and by- the fans; fans are even rewarded for actions like posting or commenting on articles. The top fans are honored weekly, and every top fan receives a special icon denoting their credibility on the site. Registration is free.
ArmchairGM.com In Their Own Words
“ArmchairGM aims to be the ultimate community of sports fans — a place where fans of games ranging from baseball and football to auto racing and mixed martial arts can congregate around a common theme: Fans rule.
We believe that fans deserve to run the show. Why? Because fans are the most important part of the sports world”.
Why ArmchairGM.com It Might Be A Killer
ArmchairGM is unique, because it’s not a specialized sports site; it caters to every fan of every sport. The emphasis on user-generated content gives everyone a say, a feature that vocal fans will surely appreciate. Sports fans should especially enjoy the option of uploading flash video, the most crucial media that there is for sports discussion online, to their article pages.
Some Questions About ArmchairGM.com
Really, the only question is, when will this site be bought out and by whom? Writing this review took ages because I couldn’t pull myself away from their 2007 AL East Champ Prediction section.
