Aqua.org – Exploring The Creatures Of The Sea

When you get the chance, check out www.aqua.org. It is the site for the National Aquarium in both Baltimore and Washington D.C. It was started in 2003 when the two aquariums joined forces. Some might think that they then made one big aquarium, but they are both still in the original spots. Between the two, there are over 16,000 different animals from more than 660 different fish, birds, reptiles and other creatures. On aqua.org, you can find the price for a day admission to either of the aquatic venues. The price for adults is $29.95, seniors $26.95 and kids 3-11 admission is $20.95. It seems a little pricey, but the experience will be well worth it.

On www.aqua.org, you will also be able to find information on upcoming events. Today for instance, at 12:15 p.m., you can see Planet earth: Shallow Sea 4D Experience along with and animal encounter at 12:30 p.m. Kids of all ages love to interact with the animals and ask questions. It is included in the price you paid and seems to be well worth checking out. You can also spend time on aqua.org learning about the different creatures that are at each of the aquariums. For teachers, there is also formation on an outreach program; this is where some of the animals will be brought to the school. There is also information about planning a field trip and other learning tools. You can also download booklets to help the kids explore the animals. Most of these are only about a certain kind of species, but there are several that can be printed. Some teachers use them as stand-alone guides to learning about the sea. Make sure you check out aqua.org before your next vacation.
