Apple has announced the forthcoming release of its latest software update, iOS 17.5, following extensive beta testing. This update brings several enhancements, including improved performance and battery life, new privacy measures, a more streamlined interface, and added accessibility functions.
One of the standout features in this update is the inclusion of a Pride Radiance watch face and exclusive wallpapers for the iPhone and iPad to show support for the LGBTQ+ community. This feature is integrated with watchOS 10.5, iOS 17.5, and iPadOS 17.5, enhancing user experience across all Apple devices.
Apple has introduced a ‘Web Distribution’ feature in compliance with the EU’s Digital Markets Act. This allows some EU developers to offer their iOS apps directly to iPhone users via the web, bypassing the App Store. This strategic change gives developers more distribution freedom and offers users a broader range of applications.
An entertainment feature has also been added to iOS 17.5 wherein Apple News+ subscribers can play a daily word game named Quartiles.

This feature also includes innovative editing tools and custom filters for the photo app and enhances Siri’s capacity to identify speakers in message applications. The update also enriches the navigation app by enabling users to add stops along their routes.
A noteworthy feature in the update is the ‘Repair Mode’ service. It improves the device service process by enabling users to send their iPhones for repairs without deactivating the ‘Find My’ and ‘Activation Lock’ features. This ensures the device’s security and prevents unauthorized access during repairs.
iOS 17.5 also introduces the return of the color-changing Apple Podcasts widget, potential alterations to Mobile Device Management solutions, and the possibility of a fourth-generation Apple Pencil. The update may also feature an improved Face ID recognition system for users wearing face masks or foggy glasses. Lastly, rumors of a new ‘bright mode’ are stirring excitement among users and tech enthusiasts alike.
