Apple has released the second beta of iOS 18.3 to developers and public beta testers. This update comes just a few weeks after the initial beta release. While iOS 18.3 beta 2 does not include a large number of new features, there are some notable changes and improvements.
One of the most significant updates is the return of the ability to repeat operations in the Calculator app by pressing the equal sign multiple times. This feature was removed in a previous update but has now been restored. The beta also includes some minor aesthetic changes, such as a new dark mode icon for the Camera Control option in Settings.
However, most of the updates appear to be internal improvements and refinements.
Beta testing for iOS 18.3 updates
As this is only the second beta, it is likely that more features and changes will be added before the final version of iOS 18.3 is released to the public.
Apple has not yet announced a release date for the final version. Developers and public beta testers can download and install iOS 18.3 beta 2 through the Settings app on their iPhone or iPad. To access the update, navigate to General > Software Update > Beta Updates.
Make sure your Apple ID is connected to your developer account to see the beta in Settings. It is important to note that beta versions of software can be buggy and may negatively impact battery life. It is recommended to install betas on secondary devices rather than primary ones.
What’s Next for iOS 18.3?
As Apple continues to refine iOS 18.3 through its beta testing, users can expect further optimizations and possibly more new features. While the second beta focuses primarily on internal improvements, Apple is known for adding surprises in the later stages of beta testing. Developers and public testers are advised to keep an eye on future updates, as more changes could enhance both functionality and user experience. Additionally, with the growing focus on performance enhancements, users should look for better system stability and improved app performance as the final version approaches.
Stay tuned for more updates on iOS 18.3 as they become available in future beta releases.
