Apple is set to release iOS 18.4 in April, bringing several new Apple Intelligence features that promise to enhance user experience. First introduced at the June 2024 WWDC, Priority Notifications is a much-anticipated feature now set to debut in iOS 18.4. This feature uses Apple Intelligence to analyze incoming notifications and highlight the important ones based on context and urgency. For instance, if you’ve ordered food, the notification about your order’s arrival will be prioritized above others.
Other time-sensitive notifications will also be highlighted. This opt-in feature can be activated by going to Settings > Notifications > Prioritize Notifications. Once enabled, priority notifications will appear first on your Lock Screen in a distinct box, with all other notifications accessible via a simple swipe.
When Apple first launched the Image Playground app, it featured Animation and Illustration styles for image creation.
Enhancing with priority notifications
The new iOS 18.4 update introduces a third style called “Sketch.”
This new style simulates hand-drawn images with high detail on stark backgrounds, setting itself apart from the 3D and simpler illustrations available in the other styles.
Sketch aims to produce detailed, academically styled drawings, adding a new dimension to the app’s capabilities. The upcoming update also expands Apple Intelligence support to new languages, including French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and simplified Chinese. Additionally, localized English support for Singapore and India will be available.
Apple has already seeded one beta of iOS 18.4 to developers and public beta testers, with a second beta expected next week. The beta testing phase will continue through March, with a planned release date in early April. While originally planned for iOS 18.4, some Apple Intelligence Siri features might be delayed to iOS 18.5. Though major new features rarely debut in .5 updates, Apple has been gradually releasing iOS 18 features and might continue this approach.
These new updates mark another step in Apple’s continual enhancement of its software, aimed at making the user experience more intuitive and efficient.
