Apple has launched a new app called Invites that makes it easy to create custom invitations for events. The app is available on the App Store for all iPhone models running iOS 18 or later. It can also be accessed on the web.

To create an invitation, users need an iCloud+ subscription which costs 99 cents per month. However, anyone can RSVP to an event, even if they don’t have an Apple account or device. Creating an invitation is simple.

Users can choose a photo from their library or select one from the app’s gallery. The app integrates with Maps and Weather to provide guests with directions and forecasts for the event. Invites also allows participants to contribute photos and videos to a Shared Album.

This creates lasting memories of the event that everyone can enjoy. For music lovers, there is a collaborative playlist option. Apple Music subscribers can curate a soundtrack for the event that guests can access right from the invite.

The app features Apple’s Image Playground which lets users design unique images for their invitations.

Apple Intelligence’s Writing Tools help craft the perfect message to go with the invite.

Event hosts have control over their events. They can manage the guest list, share invitations via links, and review RSVPs. Hosts can also control which details are visible in the invitation preview, such as the background image or their home address.

Guests can view and respond to invitations through the app or on the web. They can manage the visibility of their information and report or leave events if needed. Brent Chiu-Watson, Apple’s senior director of Worldwide Product Marketing for Apps and iCloud, said “With Apple Invites, an event comes to life from the moment the invitation is created, and users can share lasting memories even after they get together.

Apple Invites brings together capabilities our users already know and love across iPhone, iCloud, and Apple Music, making it easy to plan special events.”

The launch of Invites is an example of Apple’s “Sherlocking” approach. This is where they introduce features similar to existing popular third-party apps. Invites draws parallels to Partiful, a popular invitation app that was recognized as Google Play’s Best App of 2024.

Partiful has suggested that Invites replicates their service. Apple Invites is now available for download on the App Store. It can also be accessed online.
