The Extraordinaries is a new initiative that can be reached at www.beextra.
org. The site aims to let people who are truly altruistic but that don’t have a lot of spare time still manage to help others out. How? Simple. Using their mobiles when they have a couple of minutes to carry out specific (and tiny) tasks for charities and not-for-profits. Think of it as crowdsourcing for volunteer work and you will hit the mark.
For example, the kind of tasks that you can undertake include cataloguing images for visual arts centers or for art shows, o rdescribing photographs for creative plays. That is, the kind of activity that can be done in a couple of minutes and that can have a sudden end if necessary. Suppose you are cataloguing images while you are at a waiting room and then they call up your name. You simply proceed to catalog the final one you came across and stop until you have time to resume doing it all.
If this system manages to become standardized, it will effectively mean that lots of people could contribute tiny bits to larger projects and end up making a big difference.
App.Beextra.org In Their Own Words
“Micro-volunteer for projects you’re passionate about.”
Why App.Beextra.org It Might Be A Killer
The concept that lies at its bosom is specially suited to modern times – people want to help others out, but they just don’t have the time.
