Supporting computer-assisted content development, software, research, and teaching in humanistic disciplines like philosophy, history, and literature, ACH.org is home to the Association for Computers and the Humanities. ACH offers news and research articles as well as activities for professionals in the scope of digital humanities. A membership form is provided on the ACH.org site as well as a FAQ about membership and an email address to allow folks to ask questions about membership. Membership to ACH is open to people who have an interest in some aspect of digital humanities.
ACH has a variety of outreach programs which are described on the ACH.org website including sponsorship, advocacy, jobs, mentoring, and historical help. Their sponsorships include grants to young scholars and welcoming events at the annual Digital Humanities conference. As a professional association for the Digital Humanities, they are also involved in advocacy including the sharing of position papers on important issues regarding the DH (Digital Humanities). Through their jobs and mentoring outreach program, ACH offers career advice and guidance by matching job seekers with mentors. ACH mentors can help supply general wisdom as well as their own professional perspective on training, searching for a job, proper qualifications, and what it is like to work in DH.
Resources available to the public through the ACH website include links to related organizations including HASTAC (the Humanities, Arts, Science, and Technology Advanced Collaboratory), CenterNet, SDH-SEMI (the Society for Digital Humanities/Societe pour L’atude des Medias Interactifs), and the ALLC (Association for Literacy and Linguistic Computing). Discussion forums available through ACH include Humanist – an online seminar of digital humanities, and TEI-L – a forum based on the Text Encoding Initiative Guidelines. ACH.org also offers access to their publications and additional informational resources.
