Microblogging has become a hit due to the cultish Twitter among others. Of course, this means a flood of other similar services are sweeping the net at this very moment.
One such service is Yurbo. With its heavily pinked design, you’d think this was the girly version of Twitter. Besides the Pepto Bismo color scheme, there’s not a lot to show from this site that’s very different from Twitter et al. All your Yurbo posts can be accessed by the public and they appear as a sort of timeline on both the homepage and your friend’s page. Users get their own RSS feeds and there’s a WYSIWYG editor. You’re not limited to 140 words—you can actually include links and images in your entries (on your personal page). Your friends can leave their comments and insert pictures or tables or whatever too. Yurbo may also be accessed from your cellular.
Yurbo.com In Their Own Words
“Yurbo is the easiest way to keep all your friends updated in one place!
Every time you post your friends get updated with what you are doing! Simply sign-up, invite your friends then get posting!”
Why Yurbo.com It Might Be A Killer
This site follows in the footsteps of the popular Twitter proving how far flattery can go. It’s got the same sort of cutesy friendliness;, it sticks to the light communication-post-whatever-comes-to-your-mind ethic, and it’s simple to use. The WYSIWYG editor gives it more dimension than other services.
Some Questions About Yurbo.com
The site design could use more work—the pink and white color scheme needs to be traded in or at least enhanced with some more personal elements. Besides that, how will this site fare in competition with Twitter? Given that the latter still has gone mainstream it’s doubtful that Yurbo will be able to.
