York’s Business Festival showcased the wide range of support and networking opportunities available to businesses in the region. The event brought together key organizations such as the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority, the Federation of Small Businesses, law firms, and accountants. A spokesperson from the combined authority said, “It was great to showcase the broad array of business support offered in our region and highlight the collaboration between the Growth Hub in the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority and the local authorities.
We’re keen to ensure businesses in our region get the best support possible to boost growth and help our economy and communities thrive.
The festival featured various discussions on business challenges and ambitions. One notable event was the SUPERNetworking session hosted by York St John University. Carolyn Frank from the FSB and James Hilton-Scott from Ian Walker & Co. participated in the session.

Richard Wrightson and Elizabeth Sugden from Crombie Wilkinson Solicitors also joined James to answer questions about business structure, commercial property issues, and the advantages of being a limited company versus a sole trader. As a marketing manager and associate, Sarah Edwards said, “It was an interesting informal debate, giving expert advice to business owners.

The festival also addressed managing businesses in the digital age, focusing on the impact of Artificial Intelligence and other digital technologies. Spectrum First presented on neurodiversity in the workplace, another key topic. The York Business Festival, from last Monday to Friday, concluded with the Business Awards on Friday evening at York Racecourse.
The event highlighted the collaborative spirit and support networks available to businesses in the York and North Yorkshire region, providing attendees valuable insights and practical advice.
