Prototip, developed by one Nick Stakenburg, is a Javascript application which lets users create a variety of tooltips using Prototype. The latest version of Prototip has been written to be used with Prototype 1.
6; this means that you can open, close and toggle tooltips using any mouse event. Prototip can also be used with Scriptaculous to add some cool effects. To use the app, include Protoype 1.6 in your header and to use the effects add Scriptaculous 1.8; after both are loaded add Prototip. You can hook tooltips anywhere defining two corners, one on the target element, the other on the tooltip. Tooltips may also be designed using CSS. Prototip is relatively light at 13 kb unpacked and that includes the latest version of Prototype.
