Provided that you manage to look past the huge amount of banners that make navigating this site such a confusing experience (one never knows if clicking will open a smiley page or a news report), you’ll learn that Wtvq.com is home for WTVQ, one of Lexington’s TV channels.
Don’t expect anything else than you would from an average local news site: weather, sports, community, entertainment, etc. As is the case with many other news stations, Wtvq.com features a list of links referred to on the news, but not even a line reminding people in what context they were mentioned; you can also get an ever-updated list of cheapest gas prices (powered by GasBuddy.com). As is the case with lots of other ABC network sites, there is no live stream video to watch, only instead of presenting lots of brief clips from their shows, this channel presents a very limited amount of videos, thus rendering the general contribution of original content by this site altogether not too large. You will also be able to read blogs kept by the station’s staff, but they don’t seem to have much buzz going on about them, and I also missed a feature that’s starting to pick up in other local news outlets, meaning a list of local blogs of interest. There’s certainly lots of hard work in store for the people at Wtvq.com: I’m curious to see where they will begin.
