Something new from the folks at Wikipedia has just been launched by the name Wiki For Us. Advertised as a ¨free encyclopedia about normal and not so famous people¨, Wiki For Us works like the rest of Wikipedia in that users can edit pages of others to create a comprehensive page about each normal person out there.
You can create a page about yourself or about someone you know personally, including information about childhoods, achievements and the people who helped shape their lives. The creators designed this website in contrast to other social networking sites to help create a team effort of ordinary individuals who want to share anecdotes of their family and friends.
WikiForUs.com In Their Own Words
¨Wiki For Us was created by Alex Poon and Brian Park because we wanted a better way to learn about our friends. We don’t need another site to tell us that our friends like Coldplay, Pulp Fiction, and The Catcher In The Rye. Instead, we wanted to hear about their childhoods, their acheivements, their goals, and even what their friends think of them. We’ve learned a lot about ourselves and our friends by using the site and we hope you do too.¨
Why WikiForUs.com It Might Be A Killer
For those who love to edit and define real life information on Wiki websites, Wiki For Us is great to connect those people with others they know personally. It´s a great way to publish information on the internet about those in your social circles and to network with others who also want to comment on who you know. However, it’s a bit invasive into the personal lives of others who don’t want their history publicized for the world to see.
