Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Patch 5 is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. The patch brings major balance changes to the game. The update completely reworks Blocking weapons.

Players can now accumulate up to three stacks of melee damage buffs by blocking enemy attacks. These buffs are spent when attacking and result in a massive area-of-effect damage discharge. Dmitriy Grigorenko, the game director, said that this change will offer more versatility in combat.

It moves away from the previously dominant Parry -> Gun Strike flow. Saber Interactive has also buffed all melee weapons. Their normal melee damage has been increased.

Fencing weapons will remain effective against small groups. Balanced weapons will be strong against large crowds. Blocking weapons will now serve as powerful damage dealers.

The Operations mode introduces a new Extermination Bonus feature. It encourages players to focus on eliminating enemy waves instead of skipping encounters. This aims to reduce the grind in preparation for future additions, such as Prestige Ranks.

Balance changes and new content

Certain enemy attack frequencies have been adjusted for balance. For example, the Shielded Zoanthrope will now attack less often.

This should help alleviate some player frustrations. Saber Interactive plans minor firearm balance tweaks in Patch 6. Patch 7 will bring a major rework of weapon perks.

The goal is to enhance the effectiveness of various builds and ensure more balanced gameplay. The update also adds new content. The Obelisk operation sends players to Demerium to rotate an obelisk replica.

This will disrupt the energy flow protecting the Aurora device. A new enemy, the Tzaangor Enlightened, has been introduced. These hybrid melee/ranged foes will pose a significant challenge, especially in groups.

The Dark Angels Chapter Pack is now available as part of the season pass. It includes successor chapter cosmetics and themed weapon skins. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 continues to evolve with each update.

The changes in Patch 5 aim to enhance the gameplay experience and keep fans engaged. More exciting updates are planned for the future of this popular franchise.
