Before setting out on that fishing trip you’ve been planning for so long, make sure you take a look at this site, which is home for the US Coast Guard, and responsible for providing information on recreational boating security and regulations, together with extensive information on water safety product recalls. The site is really not too interesting in terms of design, but the information it makes available is very useful and easily accessible, plus highlights make it easy to quickly identify elements of interest.
Still, I reckon it would be nice for the site to include something along the lines of a first-time boater checklist, or a special section on boating with children, pets or people with disabilities. If you are not going on a fishing trip at all or couldn’t be more scared of sailing, the site also hosts materials that might be of interest, like the ones you’ll find under the statistics tag, where you can read research about boating safety and the risk factors usually involved, learn how many accidents take place in your state or that of your destination, and other similar data.
