If you’re a webmaster, there’s many services for checking that your site is up and running at all times. Sentinel Monitoring, 100 Pulse, Dead Simple Monitor… the list is endless. Yet, there’s not that many online monitoring services that are free to use. And that’s this new site’s biggest assert: you can use it at just no cost, and know about the status of your site 24/7. Granted, the site’s not really striking in terms of features or presentation, but it does its job more than well.
All you must do is to supply the URL of the site that you need to have monitored, and the email address to which notifications should be sent for UptimeFu to start working. If your server ever goes offline, then you will receive a notification informing you of what has happened, so that you can do something about it before too many visitors come across an unresponsive site, and your credibility has gone out the window.
And if we were to point out that UptimeFu doesn’t really come with lots and lots of features, we should at least mention that it lets you monitor as many sites as you want. You have to input the domain and notification address for each site that you want to keep in check, and while it would be nicer if the interface let you supply your email address just once, one can’t really fault UptimeFu. Even these services that are free to begin with charge you if you intend to monitor more than one site at the same time.
