The U2U Network, backed by KuCoin Ventures and Chain Capital, aims to create a more robust and decentralized internet by allowing users to share bandwidth. During a recent AMA, Chloe Phung, co-CEO of U2U Network, discussed the platform’s key areas of focus, including the EVM-compatible layer-1 platform that supports various projects, with a GPU-focused project as the flagship. U2DPN, a decentralized VPN using U2U Network’s subnet technology, addresses security vulnerabilities and increased costs faced by traditional VPNs.

Phung noted that U2DPN attracted more than 60,000 users from over 70 countries within a month of launch, making it the first to offer VPN on mobile phones. Phung also highlighted the U2U Network’s technological innovations, such as its layer-1, which has achieved 72,000 TPS in testing and targets 500,000 TPS with full sharding, and a transaction finality time of 350 milliseconds. The network’s consensus protocol, Helios, adds four layers of protection to the U2U chain, maintaining decentralization and security while providing high scalability.

Through its subnet technology, U2U Network offers a sharing economy model similar to platforms like Uber.

u2dpn gains global traction

A U2U subnet is a set of peer-to-peer cryptographic computers that inherit the consensus and security of the main network, enabling projects to create specialized subnets tailored to their needs.

There are three types of nodes within the network: master nodes, verifier nodes, and edge nodes, allowing users to contribute computing resources from various devices. The first round of U2U Network’s public node sale, launched on Oct. 24, 2024, sold all 1,000 available slots within 5 hours.

Phung admitted the competition from established Web2 giants but believes that DePIN can drive progress and improve accessibility by democratizing access to powerful resources, reducing startup development costs, and benefiting consumers. At the end of the AMA, Phung touched on the challenges of being a female founder in the Web3 space, noting that only 8% of tech leadership roles in Asia are held by women. However, she remains optimistic that more women will take leadership roles in Web3 startups.
