TrueCollect.net – Online Payment System Fail

TrueCollect.netTruePay is a brave but no so new online payment system which was supposed to challenge the still undisputed reign of PayPal, with a somewhat meager success. This URL actually belongs to the 2002 version release, and if you Google around long enough, you’ll find that the platform has been relaunched in 2004, but for inscrutable reasons no links have been added to the original site.

But this is but one of a long list of strange things happening in this payment system, all of which account to why no one is very much aware of it. One of the reasons as to why this happens is that TruePay is marketed only for consumers, as in that it allows people to pay for stuff, but says not one word about being a convenient tool for merchants to receive payments. The second problem this system has is that it will only allow users to pay for their bills using a bank or credit union account, as opposed to credit cards, which in turn limits the potential consumer market to the US. Number three would of course be no ‘About Us’ page, as any sensible person would at least want to know about the company whose bank account details it is giving to. In fourth place, I can’t resist pinpointing the fact that the login process is complicated, and in order to be recognized by the system one is instructed –in the tutorial page, no less— to provide one’s nickname, social security number or customer account number. The list goes on and on and on; somebody should really submit this site for the Failblog and make someone’s day. TrueCollect.net
