When I tried to plan a visit to my hometown in Southern California, I was similarly overwhelmed with graphics, ads, and data. The design and layout is meant to inform and help the traveler, but I felt it was overwhelming to the viewer as well. Have they surveyed their viewers to find out if they find the layout helpful or a distraction? Also, is this site targeting only foreign visitors to the US or US travelers as well? If they are only targeting foreign visitors, have they considered offering this site in other languages? Finally, it takes a lot of work to maintain this site, are they receiving enough revenue from ads to sustain their employee base?
