Trend.ly is a site for those who need to determine how popular any concept is over another at any moment in time.
On the site, anybody can either check already-existing trend polls between current concepts, or suggest a trend poll himself in case he has caught wind of something right before the rest got wise. Of course, the user might just want to know something very concrete that has got nothing to do with the degree of current popularity of a concept, but rather with its universal acceptance or perception.
That explains why there are trends like “DarthVader Vs. Darth Maul” available (and active) on the site – that is just fans that are having some good fun by seeing the general perception about something that is so precious to them. (Incidentally, Darth Vader was leading that poll with a degree of acceptance amounting to 80 % – I mean, who in his right mind would ever vote for Darth Maul?)
I think that you already can realize whether this site will be of use to you or not. Properly speaking, I don’t think that this could be termed a very “useful” site. Rather, it is something to entertain you for a little while. And in that sense, it definitely succeeds.
