Today’s Killer Startup: Transit App

Elevator Pitch:
Transit App is a public transit app that “displays all nearby transport options and departure times instantly.”
Why It’s A Killer Startup:
When I lived in New York City, I commuted an hour every day from Brooklyn to the Bronx. There were a couple of different trains I could choose from for that epic journey. The worst feeling was when I picked the wrong one and my already long trip ended up being exponentially longer. That happened a lot — I’m the person who always picks the wrong line at the grocery store, a character trait that seems to have extended to picking subway routes — but back then, in 2010, there was no such thing as Transit App.
These days I’m no longer commuting via public transit (thank god), but if I was, Transit App would be my new BFF. The app is available in 101 metropolitan areas (including NYC), and it’s been helping hapless commuters and other public transit takers figure out the best way to get from point A to point B. The app not only tells you exactly when your bus or your train is supposed to arrive (something that the MTA still hadn’t worked out when I was commuting with them), but it also helps you plan a new route if yours is totally jacked up.
Interested in biking instead? They’ll point you to the nearest bike share. Is your only route too backed up to make it worth it? The app will quickly connect you with Uber so that you can get where you need to go without delays.
Commuting will never be fun, but it certainly could be a whole lot less stressful. By taking public transit, you’re already doing a good deed by getting cars off the road. Reward yourself with an easier commute via Transit App.
