The service comes by the name of Teen Chat Decoder, and it is comparable to an online translation tool that will let you input any acronym and have it rendered in neutral English.
This is interesting in more senses than one. For starters, people who are devoted to the study of linguistics will find it a practical way to understand how written conventions are changing, and where they might be headed. They will be able to spot trends and maybe take measures themselves (and convince others along the way) for the preservation of each language’s true identity.
But the ones that will benefit the most from something like this are these parents who are (understandably) baffled by the things they children are saying online, and who want to avoid making the terrible mistake of confronting them over something that was nothing at all.
