Tapulous is a company aiming to the be the leading developers of iPhone applications now that the Apple’s app store is open for business. Currently they have three different applications available with the goal of adding new programs on almost a weekly basis.
One of their available apps that has been incredibly popular is Tap Tap Revenge, a game similar to Dance Dance Revolution or Guitar Hero, where your rhythm skills are challenged while you tap your way through various musical beats. You can also challenge your friends for the most accurate rhythmical tapping claim. This app was available in rookie form for hacked iPhones and already had a huge following, so it’s clearly already a favorite with the iPhone crowd. Another application they offer is Twinkle, serves as your Twitter client, bringing you all of the typical features you’ve come to expect, plus geo-location information that allows you to scope out and tweet people nearby. The last of their apps currently available is an address book of sorts that is hoping to become the go-to application for all contact information needs. If you put two iPhones with the app together in a “handshake”, the application allows you to exchange information in a new and crazy way. Eventually Tapulous is planning on creating a social network for all of the users of their applications, so it will be interesting to see what other tricks they’ve got up their sleeves as the iPhone continues to grow and develop.
Tapulous.com In Their Own Words
“We love iPhone. And we love to build things, so we got together to build a family of fun, social apps for iPhone and share them with the world.
On any given day (or night), expect to find half a dozen of the Tapulous regulars at “The Shop”, our office in downtown Palo Alto, California. We have great designers, iPhone hackers from the good old days, award-winning Mac developers, and lots of entrepreneurial energy. Plus we have great investors, and we love them for believing in our vision: Andy Bechtolsheim, Marc Benioff, Jeff Clavier, Katrina Garnett, Khosla Ventures, Rajeev Motwani, Ben Smith and Rob Theis, to name a few.
Stay tuned as we launch additional apps in the coming weeks and months, with premium editions of our existing products and exclusive content for sale in the not too distant future.”
Why Tapulous.com It Might Be A Killer
They are a strong team of experienced developers and designers, so they know what to do to get an application to take off, versus the many that never really make any sort of presence. They already have a following from their previous Tap Tap game, and all of their apps are in the top rankings in the Apple app store.
Some Questions About Tapulous.com
What other applications are in the works? Will they keep these applications only available to iPhone users, or will they make them more open to the public by having the apps transfer to the computer browsers?
