Tailcast is a social network for artists, writers, and musicians to share their work and collaborate. The site focuses on enabling people to get to know new people through a shared appreciation of artistic work.
Tailcast appeals to writers, poets, animators, photographers, film makers, bands, and musicians. There are over 1300 members, 10000 images, 900 videos, and 500 songs all by the members. The name Tailcast comes from the terms “long tail” and “broadcast”. The site aims to be a place where anyone can share their work in whatever format they wish, as well as making all means of artistic production, be it video, audio, image, or text, available to the world. The next step is to enable people to sell real products offline as well (i.e. not just the normal get big and have advertising model). Tailcast believes that the net is ready for an intelligent social network based on quality of interaction and ease of use.
