Sylights is quite an interesting tool for the fact that what it does is not something which is readily replicable elsewhere – certainly not for free. In essence, Sylights will let any seasoned photographer explain how light sources must be positioned in any specific setting in order to create a good shot.
Beginners can then process that information and ask any question that they might feel like asking.
And such a system also works the other way around, as any budding photographer can create his own diagram for others to take a look at, and offer their own advice. In that way, interactions can take place in a way that everybody will feel more comfortable about.
The site is entirely free to use, and an account can be created at no cost. Diagrams can be browsed by just anybody, and (as long as you are a registered member of the site) you will be able to make a contribution of your own.
Finally, it must be mentioned that an iPhone app is going to be released soon. If you can’t wait, note that it’s possible to sign up for updates and stay fully abreast of the way that app is nearing completion.
