SubReview isn’t your regular movie review site. This one’s all about subtitled movies from all over the world, with a particular focus on Asia.
Also, instead of providing thumbs up or down, or stars, or rotten tomatoes, the movies are given emotional scores. Your rate them according to how they make you feel. Move the slider controls to indicate the amount of love, happiness, excitement, fear, boredom, and/or anger the movie contains/spurs within you. Users can write up their own reviews and add them to their favorites list. The site also has sections for reviewing games, gadgets and books. Users get their own profile space complete with ratings, comments, submitted articles and favorites. SubReview is still pretty fresh, though, so there’s not a whole lot of content on there.
SubReview.com In Their Own Words
“SubReview is a UK site that allows anyone to add, rate and review subtitled films from around the world (especially Hong Kong, China, Japan and South Korea) along with video games, gadgets and books.”
Why SubReview.com It Might Be A Killer
This is an interesting take on reviews. The emotional sliding scale could be useful for those looking to get just the right sort of thrill. The site does need more content, but it does provide a welcome niche for world/subtitled movies.
Some Questions About SubReview.com
The emotional ratings really don’t tell you much. Besides that, the interface is plain and unattractive. Why would visitors be compelled to stay? There are so many review sites out there, that it will be extremely difficult for SubReview to gain a following.
