It had to happen. Someone has devised a system for tagging photos outside of Facebook and Flickr, the two locations where that is a common practice.
This system goes by the name of Stipple, and it broadens everything so much that you will actually be able to tag photos of people anywhere on the Web.
This is accomplished via a technology named People Dots. Implemented by adding just a small line of code to a site or blog, this technology makes for tagging the people who appear in any image that is uploaded in a way that is comparable to how they are tagged on Facebook or Flickr.
And that is basically it. There is not too much room for improvement when it comes to something which is as simple as tagging people on images, really. The only thing that has to be mentioned now is that the service is free, and that you can sign in using lots of different IDs – Facebook, Twitter, Google and Yahoo are all supported to the same extent.
