Now that we are being bombarded with widgets for personal webpages and social networking sites, sometimes it’s hard to weed out the chaffe and pick one that actually does something interesting. A good bet might be SlideFlickr, a new widget that lets you generate and embed slideshows on your website using Flickr APIs.
It’s extremely easy to use, but you must already be a photo-sharing member of Flickr to use the service. To create a slideshow, enter in your Flickr username, or the url of your Flickr page, set, or group from which you want to upload photos for the slideshow, and you’re done. You can cut and paste the code and embed it in your website, or you can customize your show using SlideFlickr’s advanced options, which let you toy with the dimensions of the photos displayed, the time between frames, etc. Not sure what’s going on? Leave the search bar blank and click “Generate”, and SlideFlickr will automatically produce a demo show for you composed of random Flickr photos.

“SlideFlickr will help you create and embed Flickr slideshows in less than 10 seconds”.
Why SlideFlickr.com It Might Be A Killer
SlideFlickr couldn’t be easier to use, plus it’s pretty cool; you can even customize your show to specify what music you want looping in the background. It also works for Facebook, unlike other widgets that generate a cut-and-pastable code.
Some Questions About SlideFlickr.com
When SlideFlickr gives its demo, sometimes inappropriate photos come up, as it randomly selects them from Flickr; is there some way this could be kept PG-rated? Although the site is pretty easy to decipher, SlideFlickr could do a better job of explaining what exactly its application does and provide step-by-step instructions to take any guesswork out of how to generate and embed the shows.
