The ambitious fan-made project Skyblivion, which aims to remake The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion using Skyrim’s engine, is nearing completion. The team recently released their latest roadmap, confirming they are on track for a 2025 launch. Most of the game’s vast world has been fully landscaped, with only the Nibene region on Cyrodiil’s eastern border remaining.

The interiors of many locations, such as sewers and watchtowers, are also complete. The city of Anvil has been re-envisioned to reflect its original concept art. The team is currently focusing on quest locations, which are more time-intensive compared to other areas.

Most of the game’s 3D objects, including trees, enemies, and armor, are finished, with only a small fraction remaining. As of now, only six quests out of the original 100 are left to start. The creators are calling for additional volunteers, particularly 3D artists with an interest in botany and plants, to help finalize the game.

Skyblivion nears completion

The original music from Oblivion has been integrated into Skyblivion, along with some new compositions. It is worth noting that the project currently focuses solely on the base game of Oblivion.

DLC content will be considered post-launch to ensure the game meets its 2025 release goal. In related news, another major Elder Scrolls mod project, Project Tamriel, has released a segment recreating parts of Tamriel within The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. Elder Scrolls fans can also explore some of the best Skyrim mods to enhance their gameplay experience.

For those interested in supporting Skyblivion, the project team is actively seeking volunteers to bring this massive fan-driven effort to completion. More information can be found on the project’s website and social media channels. Skyblivion promises to be a significant addition to the Elder Scrolls community, offering a refreshed experience of Oblivion with the enhanced capabilities of the Skyrim engine.

The gaming community eagerly awaits its release in 2025.
