ShopDeck has raised $8 million in a funding round led by Bessemer Venture Partners, with participation from existing investors Elevation Capital, Venture Highway, and Chiratae Ventures. The company, formerly known as NuShop, provides full-stack services for brands managing their direct-to-consumer (D2C) operations. The funds will be used to enhance ShopDeck’s AI-powered technology stack, expand its on-ground operations to support sellers in tier-II and III cities, and add new talent to its team.

ShopDeck’s focus is on optimizing profitability metrics for its clients by gathering and implementing insights on the performance of key indicators. Co-founder Rishabh Verma said, “While everyone competes to have the best storefront software, merchants care most about profitability. That’s why we focus on optimizing their bottom line across every aspect of the stack.”

ShopDeck offers a range of services, including storefront management, shipping, and marketing, while generating insights and executing strategies to optimize D2C spends.

The company charges a 3% fee plus taxes on GST. Co-founder Harmin Shah explained, “So, we primarily operate in categories which are long-tail in nature like fashion, footwear, home decor—categories where assortment plays a bigger role in the purchase decision.”

The startup has partnered with more than 1,000 sellers and facilitated close to $150 million in annual sales.

About 70% of its sellers and 80% of its buyers are from Tier II and Tier III cities. ShopDeck’s parent company, Blitzscale Technology, originally launched WMall in 2018 as a value-first marketplace and raised close to $11 million. However, by February 2022, it shut down WMall due to an ineffective business model and started anew with ShopDeck in July 2022, focusing on achieving profitability.

The company plans to use the newly raised funds to enhance its software capabilities and increase investments in AI. ShopDeck counts giants like Shopify among its peers in the e-commerce enablement space.
