US spot Ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs) reported net outflows of $113.3 million on their second trading day. Seven of the eight newly launched Ether ETFs had net inflows, yet a significant withdrawal from the Grayscale Ethereum Trust accounted for most of the negative performance. This suggested a shift in focus from single-crypto trusts to ETFs offering exposure to multiple cryptocurrencies.
Despite the outflows, the overall Ether ETF market maintained a positive trend with an aggregate inflow of $743.8 million. The Purpose Ether ETF saw the largest inflow, bringing in about $300 million in its debut week. Nevertheless, interest in iShares Ethereum Trust from BlackRock waned, attracting only $17.4 million from investors on the second day.

Transitioning from single to multi-crypto ETFs
The trust, established in 2017, requires a six-month hold for all investments it receives. Despite changes made to provide a more fluid investment experience, the sharp outflows were surprising, highlighting the market’s volatility.
Ether ETFs’ performance echoed that of spot Bitcoin ETFs, which experienced net cumulative outflows during their initial trading days. The tracking of Ethereum ETFs mirrored the movement of direct Bitcoin ETFs, highlighting substantial outflows from a single Bitcoin Trust ETF.
Ether currency is currently valued at $3,172, having decreased by over 6.8% in the last 24 hours and 7.4% in the past week due to a broader sell-off in the stock market. This sharp drop stokes speculation that the launch of Ether ETFs may have significantly influenced its price.
A large Trust, trading as a spot Ether ETF for the first time, faced outflows totalling $484.4 million. However, overall results reflected strongly on the other eight Trusts’ performance, indicating a continued positive trend in the Ether ETF market despite the significant outflows.
