Why SearchCrystal.com It Might Be A Killer
SearchCrystal definitely gets points for something fresh, something new, in a web full of search engines that all look and act nearly the same. They took the idea of the “visual search” and then took it farther, as opposed to other visual searches, this one utilizes a visual map to demonstrate to you, in a glance, which results are most relevant, and to which engine they belong. While I really enjoy this idea, I also feel the execution was a little less that what I would have liked to see. The search results took quite a long time to load, and not enough results were displayed (only about 5 per search engine). Whether or not this was intentional, I liked that there were no repeat results for the various engines.
Some Questions About SearchCrystal.com
Will result processing be sped up? Could they also provide screen shots of the displayed results by mousing over? Many of the results only display a few words, most of which were not very discriptive or telling of it’s relevancy. Perhaps displaying a screen shot or an extension of the blurb will help users decide whether or not the URL is what they are looking for before clicking through.
