By now you better have some sort of explainer video for your startup. If you don’t, well, you better get it together because your potential customers and users want to see how your product works, in less than 2 minutes, and it has to be awesome. Lucky for you, there’s Revolution Productions.
I caught up with founder Anish Patel to talk startup inspiration, who he wants to lunch with and why Revolution Productions is so killer.
Tell us a little more about what inspired Revolution Productions.
Before starting Revolution Productions, I worked in investment banking, which, as you can guess, did not give me a fulfilling life. I’ve always had an interest in online video, and I also knew there was a strong need for explainer videos to help companies communicate their ideas better than blocks of text, so I decided to create Revolution Productions to meet those needs.

There are a lot of video production startups out there. What makes you guys different?
We produce quality videos for a variety of different companies and make the process as simple as possible for the client. Our results are that clients see conversion rates of 20 – 60% and our videos increase sales by up to 60%. Our results really make us different, and our reasonable cost makes us the easy choice for clients looking for video production.
Best part of being an entrepreneur?
I love the freedom of making my ideas happen and not being constrained. I also love getting to choose the team, which is now like a big family. I’m really lucky that I could be picky and hire the best – not everyone has that option. I like that things are more flexible and less rigid than being at a big company.
Do you have a favorite project you’ve worked on?
I loved working with LexisNexis. The night before we pitched them, we decided to produce a video pitch instead. With a two minute video and 10 minute Q&A session, we won the business within 24 hours. The company has been amazing to work with.
If you could have lunch with one person, who would it be, what would you eat, and what would you talk about?
Richard Branson and I would eat curry and talk about life, inspiration, and, of course, business. He has a lot of experience with so many different companies, plus an incredibly interesting life, so I’d like to pick his brain a bit.
What’s your music-streaming site of choice, and what’s currently playing?
Spotify is playing Daft Punk ‘Get Lucky.’
