Ratebo.com aims to help consumers find the best and worst of almost any product or service — from choosing a restaurant to choosing a car mechanic.
It is a user-generated site where they encourage anyone and everyone to submit a rating or review of a service they just experienced. Ratebo.com uses tags, or keywords, to help with searches, and they have a category with ‘best ratings,’ ‘worst ratings,’ popular’, ‘recent’, etc to also help the user navigate the site. The site doesn’t have many entries and many of the reviewers were the same (the creators of the site, perhaps?), but I did enjoy reading the best recommendations section. The site appears to focus on stores and products that are offered nationwide, as I didn’t find a localized section.
Ratebo.com In Their Own Words
“Our project Ratebo.com is designed for the real people. When you do shopping, choosing restraunt, or place just to spend some time, may be movie or cafe; or even you want to choose doctor, lawyer, school, whatever not! — this is where we find our place.
We keep ratings and reviews for and by real people. For real needs. Whenever you are in doubt about something, just check it’s rating on Ratebo.com — it’s fast, easy and free. And don’t forget to leave your rating and review when you have one…
For the rating we are using the “star system”, which is the most popular classification system. One star generally indicates the worst rating. On the other end four or five stars represents the highest rating possible. Very simple!
We require only basic information to register in the system – and we never annoy you with unsoliticed e-mails. We do not sell or share you e-mails – do not even ask!”
Why Ratebo.com It Might Be A Killer
One of the most important benefits to the internet revolution is the way it has empowered the consumer and customer. This site offers reviews from ordinary people, and aims to capitalize on that and offer even more helpful feedback on any product or service out there.
Some Questions About Ratebo.com
The site design and layout was basic and boring, which didn’t inspire a lot of confidence in the future success or effectiveness of the site. I enjoyed reading some of the reviews, but I think they need to categorize the reviews better and not just rely on the tagging method they tout. I recommend having columns with examples of different review areas to help the user and create more interest in the site
