The Religious Society of Friends is the religious group better known to many as the Quakers. The society was founded in England in the seventeenth century as a Christian religious denomination by people who were unhappy with the modern Christian church and the beliefs and denominations it offered its followers.
Since its beginnings in England, Quakerism has spread to other countries around the world and now boasts numbers of approximately three hundred and fifty thousand members. If you are a Quaker or would simply like to learn more about this Christian denomination, then you might consider taking a look at a web site called www.quaker.org. This site lists many interesting facts and useful bits of information about the modern Quaker movement. The site contains things like listings of Quaker meeting places, Quaker retreat centers, Quaker retirement homes, the writings of historical Quakers, links to anti war sites, Quaker run businesses and the history of the Quakers.
