Getting things fixed where we live involves making so many calls and dealing with so many people (who often seem just not to care) that there comes a point we just give up. The sheer bureaucracy of it all breaks our spirits, and as we see potholes and dilapidated buildings while walking down the streets of our cities we stop caring any longer.
That is truly unfortunate, as that dejected attitude is not only affecting the place we live in – it actually marks the point when we renounce to some of our inherent rights as citizens of the place we inhabit.
Well, that is what this new site hopes to address. It is named Public Stuff, and it gives users the chance to both report and request services where they live. The idea is enabling them to report anything that is not right to their municipalities or campuses, and get a direct response.
And the way the whole system works is really suitable, as just anybody can see the requests that have been made, and whether they have been dealt with or not. That is, not only the person who placed the request can keep a close watch on the way everything is evolving afterwards. Every citizen can.
