PlayStation Plus subscribers are unhappy after the free games offered at the start of 2025 were seen as a significant downgrade. The three games for January 2025 are “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League,” “Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered,” and “The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe.” These will be available for download from January 7 to February 3, 2025.

Many fans think this lineup is much worse than what was given out in January 2024 and previous years. In 2024, the free games included “A Plague Tale: Requiem,” “Evil West,” and “Nobody Saves the World.” Earlier years had big titles like “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order,” “Fallout 76,” “Deep Rock Galactic,” “Uncharted,” “Greedfall,” and “Tomb Raider.”

Subscribers are voicing their frustration on Reddit.

One user called it “easily the worst January of all those years listed.” Another said the situation is “a crock of s***.” Some noted that while disappointed, they have other games in their backlog to play for now.

The unhappy Reddit users reflect a broader feeling among dedicated PlayStation fans.

It’s unclear if PlayStation will improve the free game offerings in response to this criticism. Any changes based on the feedback likely won’t happen immediately since these decisions are made far in advance. PlayStation gamers will have to wait and see how the company deals with their concerns in the coming months.

The current free games may be a letdown, but hopefully, the quality will improve as the year progresses.
